Intermittent Fasting & Weight Loss Expert – my purpose in life is to guide you to health
I originally started a private practice in January 2018. At that point, I had worked in a hospital for nine years, but I never really felt like I was helping people improve their health long-term.
I wanted to work with people over a period of months, not just one-time appointments.
My drive was (and still is) to help people lose weight. And that takes time! The system I was working in at the hospital wasn’t set up for me to work with people over the course of several months. So I decided to start my own practice.
On February 28th, 2018, two months after starting my private practice, my husband, Kris, died. He was my world. My life completely turned upside down with one phone call.
At that point, I didn’t have the emotional bandwidth to run a brand-new private practice. Kris was my biggest fan and supporter.
I struggled a lot after he died. It’s fair to say the first year was a blur, and I felt like I floated through it. My physical and emotional health suffered. I had no appetite and had to force myself to eat.
For the first time in my life, I was underweight. Prior to that, I struggled with my weight and body image. I actually went into dietetics thinking I’d learn the secret to weight loss. But that wasn’t the case…
It wasn’t until years after graduating from college and countless hours doing my own research, that I finally figured out how weight management works.
Flash forward to two years after Kris’s death. I fell in love. I married Scott on February 21st, 2020.
Honestly, I never thought I’d be lucky enough to have two great loves in this lifetime. Getting married again is one of the best and hardest things I’ve ever done. I don’t know how to explain it and I think only a fellow widow(er) would truly understand.
Since Kris’s death, I’ve spent a lot of time working on myself, both my mental and physical health.
I got serious about intermittent fasting, along with a low-carb and high-protein diet, and was amazed by how transformative it can be when implemented correctly.
I’m a little nerdy in the sense that I can spend hours on PubMed researching a topic. So I’m being serious when I tell you that I’m an expert on intermittent fasting and weight loss.
I’ve given presentations to dietitians on Intermittent Fasting and the Power of Protein.
I fast at least 12 hours every day and most days I’m fasting 16 hours with an eight-hour eating window. I’ve learned how to optimize my nutrition when I eat. I can finally maintain a healthy weight with ease.
For me, the best thing about intermittent fasting is that I’m in control of what I eat and when I eat.
My passion is to help you feel the same way.
I was laid off in February of 2023. I had been working as a recipe developer for a keto website. They messaged me that they no longer could employ me full-time. I worked for them for almost two years. I had got really burned out working in the hospital setting, especially during covid, and felt very lucky to get my dream job as a recipe developer.
But I always still had the desire to work for myself. I joined a mindset group during the summer of 2022 and one of my goals was to start a side hustle, eventually transitioning into working for myself. Well, the universe heard me. But instead of a side hustle, gave me the opportunity to fully jump into entrepreneurship.
So here I am!
Five years after taking the initial leap to help people improve their health, I’m restarting my practice. I can’t ignore the drive any longer. I know this is what Kris would want me to do with my life.
